and insert a CD.  Also, you can still rewind and forward and find the right spot alot quicker on records.  What do you think? here we go again... not going to give reasons why vinyl is better than cds because most of you know a lot of reasons. i'm open to commentary on any of my opinions... im also gonna try not to regurgitate things that the faq said... but here a re a few things that i personally like better on cd... looping: with the right equipment you can have flawless looping without having to use 2 records (using a pioneer cdj500) cds don't warp. i have a problem with my older vinyl and i always end up having to fix them. digital displays on cd p_layer_s (esp. digital pitch control #'s... so you can save incredibly hard mixes without the trouble of redoing it every time... like trying to mix 65bpm vocals with 130bpm drums) also, denon 2500 has 200 memorizable cue/track points or something like that, but ive heard that they're aren't too accurate. auto cuepoint saving: you can hold a button to play a snip of a song and then release it and it'll go right back to your cue point.... instead of having to spin the record back. loading time: i personally can throw cds into my cdjs and slam the cover faster than i can pull a record out of a bin and put it onto that hole. the pioneer cdjs are top-loading... so are the new vestax as well... but som etimes it takes a few seconds to read the tracks on a cd... ejecting: i dont know how it is on side-loading cd p_layer_s... but the pioneer cdj tables aren't too slow. maybe fractions of a second slower than you can pull a record off. space/weight: cds are smaller/lighter than vinyl. there's a lot of advantages to that. music availability: i dont do underground or hard to find music... mostly stuff you can turn on the radio and find somewhere... so i can find a lot of my stuff on cds easily and for cheaper than on vinyl... plus i dont have to race down to the record store the first week and reserve a copy of something like blackstreet before they run out. of course there's no replacement to manipulating the vinyl with your hands... that's why i bring a 1200 along with my cdjs... but for me... i mix better on cds... i think my sister can mix better than me with TTs... i'm not a battle dj and i rarely scratch (cuz i cant flare)...... i play for the crowd, and i don't think many of them care whether the music is coming off of a slab or wax or a compact disc. djdoughboy bhp -sanjose/cali-

I use both...no point in trying to make it a 'religion' to stick to one...my mixes are more versatile that way.

All I'm going to say is this.. if its going to come down to what piece of equipment can do the best sampling and which piece mixes better for you then what the hell did I learn all this stuff for? I go to many clubs in the delaware valley and most of the DJ's suck.. I'm not saying I'm the best or anything but I look around and see who is Spinning and then I look at what I could do.. they are using CD mixers, samplers etc.. I learned on 2 tables with NO PITCH.. you had to slow them down with your hands.. try that.. all I can say is most of the newer DJ's are LAZY!! everyone thinks its easy to be a DJ..

It truly was amazing.  Having the best of both worlds.  I do not discard any of the two.  There is no point in comparing them.  It is like comparing apples with oranges without realizing that they are different even though they are fruits. DJ George,
